Simply stated: $50.00/hr. I charge by the minute and only for time spent at the computer designing/programming. I keep a timecard with notations as to what was accomplished with the time spent and provided with your invoice. This gives you an idea of what I can accomplish in an allotted time for reference.

Getting started

You decide what your main objective will be and I'll explain how best to accomplish the task, using current technologies.

Here's a rough idea if you are looking for a well executed website with style.

Your first page, the Homepage, is the most important and sets the "look & feel." It is your first impression and sets the style for your entire website. The cost is approximately $400 to $500. Homepage styles are issues like buttons, background, logo presentation, fonts, photos, animation and colors. Once these are established they generally flow throughout your website. Your style assures visitors that they are still in your website and not someplace else because a link took them away. Subsequently, the other pages of your website will have the same look, and come in at about $75 each page.

These are three approaches that I've been involved with...

• To get you up and running in short order and have it serve as an electronic brochure. Basically advertising that starts the process of search engines finding your new domain and getting you indexed in their databases. Meanwhile build out improvements and added functionality over time. This keeps your website new for repeat visitors and allows you to understand new concepts as we go into them.
  
• Another approach is to devote time to me and do a walk-through your business, pointing out which parts you wish to put online. I will offer up suggestions as to what I feel will be the most effective. I then take those elements and create a story-board to illustrate how traffic will flow through your website and go over systems for best handling the different situations.
• Organize a CMS (Content Management System) where your organization becomes involved in the daily operation of the website. Feeding content on a regular basis using your in-house computers to log into your website for keeping it current. This requires a higher level of organization. I also offer training for your employees to accomplish this type of environment. Not that training is that involved, typically it is more of a matter of taking the intimidation factor out and making an employee or yourself feel comfortable and confident.
  

How I bill

I charge for time spent at the computer creating content and designing (I do not charge for consulting, meetings or researching) and provide a time sheet outlining how the time was spent.

Training is clocked from the time I leave my office, ending on my return to my office.

Requirements:

HOSTING: $200/year
This is space on a server that is connected to the Internet with the capability to handling large volumes of traffic.

Database back-end (if required) $75.00/year.

DOMAIN NAME: $50/year
This is your dot com name. (www.yourname.com)

Technologies offered:

Programming: HTML, XHTML, PHP, Javascript, CSS.

Video: recording, editing, compression and player setup - Podcasting, page embedding, uploading to places like iTunes, YouTube etc.

Audio: recording, editing, processing and player setup - Podcasting, page embedding, and making available to distributors such as iTunes.

Photography: shoots, editing, enhancing, framing, slide-shows and website multi media presentations.

Animation: Flash and animated gifs.

eMarketing: search engine submission, advertising programs such as Google's Adwords, Yahoo, MSN, banner exchange and link swaps.

There are many more, but I'm not going to bore you with any of those. I believe our working relationship should be outlining features & functions that will best serve you. You get to know WHAT it does and I take care of the HOW it does what it does.
